About contest

AlanHub announces a photo contest dedicated to the events of recent years — Apocalypse Now (Chronicles of Apocalypse).

2020–2022 has become one of those periods in the history of mankind that has been full of catastrophic events – from Covid-19 to the war in Ukraine and the threat of a global nuclear war.

We live in a very stressful time, everything that has happened in recent years is reminiscent of the advent of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse — from Covid-19 (the horseman of the pestilence) to the current conflict in Ukraine (the horseman of war). According to the Bible, the horseman bringing famine should arrive soon, and then the horseman bringing death.

We believe that if everyone can share their emotions – pain, worries, hopes, fears, joys, victories – with the whole world, this can become a way to overcome global threats. This can enable people from all over the world to realize their commonality and shared values and, ultimately, prevent a global war. No war!

Everyone has a chance to leave a mark in history in the form of a selection of photographs.

You are free to choose what to send, any person from any country, both a professional and an amateur, can send any photo – it can be a professional picture or a phone photo. This is a public contest. This is a historical period in the life of all mankind, and we want it to remain so in people's memory.

As of March 2022, the Doomsday Clock is only 100 seconds to midnight, the most ominous time since 1947, when the Doomsday Clock was launched. Now the situation is even worse than during the Cuban Missile Crisis! The Horseman of the Apocalypse, symbolizing the global war is almost here!

Biblical prophecies can be interpreted as symbols and as threats, which in order to overcome, Humanity must unite. When Covid-19 began, there was no shortage of catastrophic forecasts: examples of the Spanish flu, which infected at least 550 million people – about 30% of the world’s population at the beginning of the last century, – were cited. The number of deaths from the Spanish flu according to various estimates ranged from 50 to 100 million people – 2.5–5.0% of the world's population at that time.

Covid-19 is a real disease, but thanks to the combined opposition efforts of lockdowns, economic sacrifices, vaccinations – the Biblical horseman of the pestilence turned out to be not so terrible. We are not going to talk about the dangers and benefits of vaccination, about the validity of certain actions of national and supranational structures, about the natural or artificial origin of the virus.

The only fact is that the various threats of Covid-19 were largely overcome by joint efforts. The catastrophe of the Spanish flu type did not happen again. People rallied around and prevented the Covid-19 threat from developing into a more pessimistic scenario. Now it's time to unite against the threat of a global war, and a way to unite people can be through creativity, through photographs, through the opportunity to demonstrate "day by day" how apocalyptic events are reflected in the life of every person, how life has changed around the world.

2020/2022 has been, and in part continues to be a stressful time: Covid-19, Floyd's death, BLM, withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, war in Syria, Trump's election loss and Capitol attack, tensions around Taiwan, Middle East, global environmental threats, energy crisis, inflation and rising prices, a threat of a global financial crisis, war in Ukraine, a threat of nuclear war – that's why we have set ourselves the aim of displaying views from around the world in the form of daily photographs made in 2020–2022 to unite people of the planet.
